This week our, Operations Manager Ms. Lito Vertzini gathered colleagues for an illuminating briefing entitled “Crew Ranks & Duties ”.
The session offered colleagues a clear look at a ship’s living hierarchy. Through vivid deck-to-engine diagrams, real-world examples and a visual guide, we traced every link in the chain of command—from the Captain on the bridge to the Chief Cook in the galley. Participants discovered how each rank’s specialised duties interlock to keep vessels safe, compliant and efficient, and how clear career pathways help cadets grow into future Masters and Chief Engineers.
Recognising who does what at sea is more than a list of titles; it underpins safety, teamwork and crew wellbeing. By discussing these roles and responsibilities, the briefing deepened our appreciation for the coordinated expertise that powers global trade—and encouraged our shore-side teams to support seafarers even better on their journeys across the world’s oceans.
